Without large ventilation, why would chickens catch cold?

2020-12-11

Chilling is a common phenomenon in the process of raising chickens, and it is also the main factor for chicken flocks. Some people will ask, my chicken house has a very stable temperature control, there is no large ventilation, and no chickens are blown. Why do chickens still catch cold? What about the disease? Cold can occur in many aspects of chicken breeding. It is not only the temperature control or the ventilation that can cause the chicken to catch cold. I have summarized the factors that can cause chickens to catch cold during the breeding process. I hope to help everyone!

01. Wet chicken feathers can cause chickens to catch cold, and chicks "bath" for all reasons; during brooding, the water line is too low, the water pressure is too high, the chicks get into the water cup, the nipple leaks, and the chicken feathers are wet; the spray equipment is damaged and the spray nozzle drips. Severe or long spraying time, resulting in damp chicken feathers; condensation of water vapor on the chicken house partition or rain leakage on the roof of some houses.

02. The humidification method is improper, only pay attention to humidification, without considering the temperature of the chickens. When the temperature of the chickens is low, humidification with a humidification tube will make the chickens cool; the water used for humidification is at a low temperature, and when the fog falls When the chicken is on the body, the chicken flock will be cold; during humidification, if a large amount of water accumulates on the ground, the cold air produced by the evaporation of water vapor can also make the abdomen of the chicken cold.

03. The chicken house is not tightly sealed, causing side windows, sewage outlets, chicken outlets, water curtains, exhaust fan outlets, etc., to generate violent winds, causing the chickens to catch cold due to low temperature.

04. After the wind enters the chicken house from the air inlet, there are obstacles blocking during the walking pre-warming process, causing the rebound of the cool breeze, and hitting the chickens directly to make the chickens cold.

05. The temperature control is unreasonable; the cooling rate is relatively fast, especially in the cold season. Such rapid artificial cooling will make the chickens get cold more commonly.

06. Wrong judgments rely only on the temperature indicated by the thermometer, and do not pay attention to the physiological behavior of the chickens, which causes the chickens to catch cold.

The indoor temperature indicated by the thermometer can only be used as a reference. The indicated temperature of the thermometer is affected by factors such as the accuracy of the thermometer itself, the location of the thermometer (whether it is representative), and the height of the hanging (whether it is appropriate). influences.

The suitable temperature of the chicken flock is not only related to the temperature of the chicken house, but also has an important relationship with the humidity, wind speed, light, and feeding status in the chicken house. Under the same temperature of the chicken house, the increase in humidity will only make the chicken feel warmer, the increase in the wind speed of the chicken house will only feel colder, the chicken will only feel cooler when the light is turned off, the chicken will only feel warm when feeding, and when hungry It will feel colder.

07. Laziness and sleep when on duty at night, causing the stove fire to be weak or burning out, causing the stove temperature to drop and the chickens to catch cold.

08. Abrupt weather changes. When the outside air temperature drops, the temperature in the chicken house will decrease. If the ventilation of the chicken house is not adjusted in time, the temperature drop in the chicken house will cause the chickens to catch cold.

Therefore, you should be highly vigilant during the outside temperature change period (high wind, heavy snow, rain, temperature drop in the afternoon), and frequently observe the temperature of the chicken house in order to respond in time, reduce the ventilation or increase the heating or reduce the air inlet.

09. Insufficient heat supply from the water heater can cause the temperature of the chicken house to drop and the chicken flocks to catch cold. The overhaul and maintenance of heating equipment and the training of personnel on furnace burning methods should be strengthened.

10. The position of the air inlet is incorrect or too large. The principle of starting the air inlet is to increase the area of the air inlet at a relatively high temperature and reduce the area of the air inlet at a relatively low temperature. For example, in actual operation, the relative temperature is not considered. , Only opening the air inlet for air intake will cause the chickens to catch cold.

11. No protective measures are taken at the air inlet, which will cause the chickens under the air inlet to catch cold.

The above are all the reasons why chickens can catch cold without large ventilation. I hope that after reading today's introduction and analysis, in the future, farmers will be able to manage the chickens scientifically and try to avoid colds in the daily chicken management process!
